Patio & Summer House

We transformed this overgrown, unused garden in Todmorden into a beautiful outdoor space, complete with Indian stone paving and a new insulated summer house. We also installed concrete footings for a small garden wall the homeowner plans to build in the future.

This part of the garden had become heavily overgrown and was no longer being used. We started with a complete clear-out, removing the overgrowth and stripping the area back to make way for a new Indian stone patio and summer house. The aim was to make much better use of the space and give the homeowner a garden they could enjoy again.

Once the garden was cleared, we levelled the ground and prepared a new sub-base for the Indian stone paving. We also installed a dedicated concrete base for the summer house, providing the new structure with a solid foundation. Getting the groundwork right was particularly important on this job, given how overgrown the garden had been and the amount of work involved in preparing the area.leared, we levelled the ground and prepared a new sub-base for the Indian stone paving. Getting this groundwork right was an important part of the project, particularly with further improvements planned for the garden.

With the ground prepared, we laid the Indian stone paving to create a new patio around the summer house. We also installed concrete footings around the edge of the garden for a small wall the homeowner has planned. It made sense to include these while we were doing the groundwork, so they won't have to dig up the newly landscaped garden if they decide to build the wall further down the line.

We then built the summer house on its new concrete base, fitting an EPDM roof, guttering and insulation. The roof and guttering help protect the building from the weather, while the insulation makes it a more comfortable space to use. Set alongside the Indian stone patio, the finished summer house is a great addition to a part of the garden that had previously gone unused.

We're really pleased with the finish on this one. The Indian stone patio looks great alongside the summer house, giving the whole area a smart, finished look and making much better use of the garden. A lot of work went into clearing, levelling and preparing the ground before we could start on the paving or summer house, and we're proud of how the whole project in Todmorden has turned out. We're really pleased with the finish on this one.
